Do you feel like no matter what you do, your body never feels ‘good enough’?
You don’t have to keep living in that cycle. Healing is possible, and together we can build a healthier, more peaceful relationship with your body.
Body Image
Does this sound like you?
Picking apart your reflection or avoiding mirrors altogether
Comparing yourself constantly to friends, strangers, or influencers
Struggling to enjoy life because you don’t like how you look
Dressing to hide instead of to express yourself
Engaging in “body checking” - repeatedly monitoring or “checking” your body to see if it has changed in size, shape, or appearance.
What Causes Body Image Issues?
Body image struggles are often shaped by cultural messages, family beliefs, and lived experiences that taught you your worth depends on appearance.
Growing up in a world saturated with filters, unrealistic beauty standards, and comparison makes it nearly impossible not to internalize the idea that your body needs fixing.
Although most people feel insecure from time to time, intense fixation on one’s body can lead to more severe mental and physical health symptoms.
Body dysmorphia is when worries about appearance take up so much space that they start interfering with daily life. Even if others don’t notice the “flaws” you see, the anxiety and self-criticism can feel overwhelming.
Therapy can help you challenge these patterns and build a kinder, more balanced relationship with yourself.
How Does Therapy Improve Body Image?
Together, we’ll work on separating your identity from your appearance. I’ll help you challenge distorted beliefs, reduce comparison, and develop a more neutral (and eventually compassionate) relationship with your body. We’ll also explore the emotional roots of these struggles and practice tools to quiet the inner critic.
What is Body Neutrality?
Body neutrality is about stepping off the rollercoaster of either LOVING or HATING your body and learning to simply be in it. Instead of focusing on appearance, it’s about respecting your body for what it allows you to do - like moving, resting, or connecting with others.
I like using this approach in sessions because it takes the pressure off needing to feel a certain way about your body and creates space for a calmer, more balanced relationship with yourself.
Progress Might Look Like:
Noticing fewer critical thoughts when you look in the mirror
Feeling more neutral, accepting, or even positive about your body
Wearing clothes that feel comfortable and authentic instead of hiding or shrinking
Engaging in activities you used to avoid because of body worries
Valuing yourself for more than just appearance
